— Note

This site does not give legal advice.

Everything published on ajlegal.pk — including the descriptions of practice areas and the notes published under Insights — is general commentary. It is not advice, it is not tailored to anyone's circumstances, and it must not be acted on as though it were.

Do not rely on time limits stated here

Parts of this site describe procedures and statutory time limits: periods for registering as an interested party, for filing submissions, for appeals, for refund claims, and similar. These are stated as a general description of the framework and may be wrong for your matter.

Time limits are amended by statute and by rules. They run from events — publication in the press, communication of an order, receipt of a determination, payment of duty — which are matters of fact in each case and are frequently not the date printed on a document. Periods may be extended, condoned, or strictly enforced depending on the provision and the forum.

Verify any deadline against the governing instrument and the documents in your own matter, and take advice on it. Nothing on this site should be treated as confirmation that a period is open, or that it has closed. The firm accepts no responsibility for any step taken or not taken, or any right lost, in reliance on anything published here.

Currency

Content is written at a point in time and is not systematically updated. Where a note carries a date, it states the position as understood at that date. Statutes, rules, notifications and practice change, and content may have been overtaken.

No lawyer-client relationship

Reading this site or writing to us does not make you a client. The firm acts only under a written engagement accepted after conflict checks. Communications sent before that point may not be confidential or privileged, and no duty is owed in respect of them. Please do not send us confidential material until we have confirmed that we are able to act.

Not an advertisement

This site is published as general information about the firm. It is not intended as advertisement, solicitation, or an invitation to instruct, and should not be read as a promise or guarantee about any outcome.

Prior results

Where reported judgments or past matters are referred to, they describe work done. Every matter turns on its own facts and no past result indicates what will happen in another.

Jurisdiction

The content concerns Pakistani law and is written for that context. It says nothing about the law of any other jurisdiction.
